Expertise
VTT brings into this project its world class expertise in micro and nanotechnologies and MEMS-enabled devices. VTT has done pioneering work in the area of atomic-layer deposition (ALD) through the 40-years industrial history of ALD technology. In the InForMed project, VTT collaborates with Picosun in the investigation of biocompatibility of a novel ALD coating. In the area of acoustic MEMS, VTT has developed high-performance devices through the whole range of frequencies ranging from condenser microphones at audio frequencies, transducers at ultrasonic frequencies, to micro acoustic devices at several GHz. In the area of ultrasonic devices, VTT has both the cMUT transducer technology as well as the pMUT technology. VTT collaborates with Ehnholm Consulting to compare the pMUT and cMUT technologies for ablation purposes. VTT role in the project is supported by the unique Micronova micro and nanofabrication center, a clean room environment equipped with diverse manufacturing, micro packaging, characterization, and testing tools. VTT is committed to commercialize its project results by offering R&D services, technology transfer and licensing to the industry in Finland and abroad.
